• Heat exchanger will be inspected for cracks and deterioration
  Benefit: Heat exchangers can develop cracks with age.  If they exist, there is a risk of serious illness from toxic fumes emitted.
• Carbon Monoxide levels will be tested
  Benefit: Insure that there are no dangerous levels of Carbon Monoxide gas present.
• Air filter will be replaced (high quality, pleated)
  Benefit: A restricted air filter can cause your heating and air conditioning unit to waste energy and shorten the compressor's life.
• Burners will be checked and cleaned
  Benefit: Dirty burners can cause poor combustion.  You pay for useful heat that "goes up the stack."
• Thermocouple will be tested
  Benefit: A gradual weakening thermocouple will eventually lock out the gas valve.  This could result in you having a "no heat" situation and possibly result in an expensive night-time emergency call.
• Fan switch will be checked and adjusted as needed
  Benefit: A fan switch that is not properly adjusted can waste energy or cause nuisance fan cycling.
• Pilot will be checked
  Benefit: Weak or dirty pilots can easily be extinguished causing the furnace to shut down.
• Safety controls will be operationally checked
  Benefit: Safety controls that do not operate can cause dangerous problems.
• Blower wheel will be cleaned and motor lubricated
  Benefit: Motor will last longer and the temperature will be more comfortable.
• Gas line will be leak-checked from the furnace shut-off valve to the burners
  Benefit: Undetected gas leaks are dangerous.
• Combustion air openings will be checked
  Benefit: Blocked or restricted combustion air openings can be dangerous.
• Flue pipe inspection
  Benefit: Flue pipe corrosion or leaks are dangerous.  They could allow combustion by-products and Carbon Monoxide into your home.
• Check for proper vent draft
  Benefit: Improper venting or back drafting can allow Carbon Monoxide into your home.
• Secure all panels
  Benefit: Avoid dangerous conditions and help prevent no heat situations.
